New illustrated edition of 5 inset engravings including a portrait of the author in frontispiece.
Binding in full red glossy calf, back with four nerves set with golden borders richly decorated with golden typography patterns and cold stamped, golden friezes at the head and tail, golden casters on the caps, framing of lace cold stamped on the struck plates in their centers of a cold stamped mandorle, black fillet framing boards enriched with golden dots in spandrels, paper guards and counterplates in the tank, framing of golden lace on the counterplates, all golden slices, stars and circles gilded on the cuts, superb binding from the time signed Thouvenin.
Some small foxinges, stain on pages 20 to 23.
Beautiful copy superbly bound by Thouvenin, one of the most important master binders of the 19th century.
