New edition after the original 1657 (Sommaville). Edition illustrated with a frontispiece and 6 fig. unsigned (one for each new frontispiece). Paperback, without binding. A clear wetting the end of Volume of Volume I, in the middle. Segrais (1624-1701) was secretary Miss de Montpensier (including Madame de Lafayette draw a story), and the director of the French Academy. The collection consists of 6 new historical genre that was opened a few years earlier by The Princess of Cleves by Madame de Lafayette. Lafayette novels appeared under the pseudonym Segrais ... In the preface Segrais speaks of a princess near Louis XIV and removed in a castle with his following, each tell a story, and all form of entertainment Princess Aurelie.
