New adorned with a portrait of the author by Daullé, three jewels of title by Seve edition engraved by Chevillet twelve figures carved by the same Aliamet, Flipart Lemire, Lempereur Sornique and Tardieu, and thirteen and sixty asses thumbnail out-of-lamp all by Seve engraved by Baquoy, Flipart and Legrand. Beautiful edition, well printed according to Cohen.
Full mottled calf blond at the time. Back with five nerves decorated with flower boxes and golden jewels, as well as parts of title and volume number blonde morocco. All red edges. Caps head leveled, split bit, a tiny gallery worm and slightly blunted corner. A tiny wetness in low margin of the first volume, a fine gallery worm without affect the text of the second volume low margin, otherwise good copy with all margins and freshness.
This is the first luxury edition which was made of Racine, it still counts among the most popular of the author.
