First edition of this brief excerpt from the Description de l'Egypte, Section Modern State, Volume second, third delivery. Good impression on strong paper cloth. Cardboard cream parchment modern. Smooth back with part of title in black sheepskin. Copy uncut, wide-margined. Large and important study is divided into three main parts, agriculture, industry and trade. The introduction is a short travelogue recalling that scientists writing these memoirs were on the ground; Follows a highly organized description of the state of agriculture in the early nineteenth century (wheat, rice, pink ...), different industries and domestic and foreign trade of Egypt (endnotes a general condition of the goods having paid the customs duties in major ports).
