Original drawing in ink embellished charcoal (mixed media). Artist's signature in the lower left corner of the work. Very nice condition. JOU Louis (1881-1968) was a painter and typographer of Spanish origin. He became a painter in words at the age of 16. This is the time of his exaltation and his dreams of artistic success in Paris. In 1906, Louis Jou left for France and joined his friend Joseph Civil organist. He rubs Guillaume Apollinaire and Francis Carco. In 1908, he met François Bernouard, poet, printer and publisher with whom he created the Belle Edition which says his talent as a typographer, engraver and composer of beautiful texts. He attended Derain, Picasso and secures orders in the journal luxury Cocteau "Scheherazade." In 1921 he met the writer André Suares gives rise to the friendship of a lifetime. He fulfilled his dream and reports from Spain's own typeface. In 1939, he left Paris and took refuge in the Leases, where he restores the house was acquired in 1921, the splendid Renaissance Jean de Brion.
