(La Passion du Christ). Gravure originale du XVIIe siècle

S.n., s.l. [Hollande] (Circa 1600), 33x27,5cm (cuvettes: 12x20,5cm), une feuille.

Original etching unsigned, made chisel, Claes Jansz Visscher probably says Piscator.Epreuve on watermarked laid paper, working from the early seventeenth siècle.Planche composed of two prints, each illustrating a passage from the Gospel according to John, respectively 19.1: "Then Pilate took Jesus and scourged him." and 19.2: "And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns they put it upon his head, and arrayed him in a purple robe" (episode of the Passion of Christ) .Légende in Latin in the bottom of each print .Mentions numbered "12" and "f" symbol in the lower right corner in the first etching, and numbered "13" and "ff" character references in the lower right corner in the second gravure.Mention handwritten "124 "in the upper right margin of the planche.Une old handwritten annotation in Greek characters in each etching angle, another the latest pencil down the visible planche.Filigrane by transparence.Légères foxing mainly marginal and small traces, a tiny marginal hole and a marginal recovery using a strip of adhesive-coated paper, without damage to etching, otherwise very nice condition for this extremely rare engraving and freshness. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate.
