The monotype is not an engraving in the strict sense, but a print (work obtained after manual or mechanical pressing).
It involves painting with typographic ink (also called aqualaque) or oil paint, or gouache, on a non-porous support, in metal, plexiglass, Rhodoïd.
The monotype cannot be numbered, because, as its name indicates, its printing is unique.
