(L'arrestation de Jésus). Gravure originale du XVIIe siècle

S.n., s.l. [Hollande] (Circa 1600), 33x27,5cm (cuvettes: 13x21cm), une feuille.

Original etching unsigned, made chisel, Claes Jansz Visscher probably says Piscator.Epreuve on watermarked laid paper, working from the early seventeenth siècle.Planche composed of two prints, each illustrating a passage from the Gospel of John, 18.6 respectively: "When he said to them: I am he, they went backward and fell to the ground." and 18.10: "Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest's servant, cutting off his right ear." (Episode of Jesus' arrest) .Légende Latin at the bottom of each gravure.Mention numbered "6" in the lower right corner in the first etching, and mention numbered "7" in the lower left corner in the second gravure.Mention handwritten "120" in the upper right margin of the planche.Une old handwritten annotation in Greek characters in the right corner of the bowl of each visible gravure.Filigrane by transparence.Rousseurs and small traces mainly angle marginal, small burn hole restored using a piece of paper glued to the back, otherwise nice condition for this extremely rare engraving and freshness. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate.
