(L'arrestation de Jésus). Gravure originale du XVIIe siècle

S.n., s.l. [Hollande] (Circa 1600), 33x27,5cm (cuvettes: 13x20,5cm), une feuille.

Original etching unsigned, made chisel, Claes Jansz Visscher probably says Piscator.Epreuve on watermarked laid paper, working from the early seventeenth siècle.Planche composed of two prints, both illustrating a passage from the Gospel of John, probably 18.28 -31: "They led Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early, they did not enter themselves in court, in order not to be defiled, but might eat the Passover Pilate therefore went out.. to them, and said: What accusation bring you against this man they said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered thee Pilate therefore said to them. Take him yourselves , and judge him according to your law. " (Episode of Jesus' arrest) .Légende Latin at the bottom of each gravure.Mentions numbered "10" and "e" symbol in the lower right corner in the first etching, and references numbered "11" and of law in the second gravure.Mention handwritten "123" "ee" character in the lower corner on the sidelines in the upper right planche.Une handwritten annotation in Greek characters in pencil under each see-through gravure.Filigrane angle. foxing and light traces of foxing mainly marginal, discrete track fold and a tiny marginal restoration using a small piece of transparent Filmoplast back, otherwise very nice condition for this extremely rare engraving and large freshness. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate.
