First edition illustrated with an atlas of 50 finely watercolor figures and many black figures in the text, numbering about 700.
Bindings half maroon burgundy, discolored back with four nerves set with golden dots and adorned with gilt fillets, marbled paper plates, a lack of paper in the margin of the first board of the first volume, guards and contreplats of handmade paper, bindings of the time.
Some traces of rubbing on the backs, scattered foxing, pale marginal wetting on some sheets, stamps printed on the title and title pages of the volumes, snags on the cuts of the second volume.
