Chez Duchesne, chez l'auteur ; S.n., à Paris 1760 , 6 parties en un vol. in 12 (9,5x16,5cm), relié.

Rare meeting 6 editions around the Comedy philosophers Palissot, all in first editions (1760) except when denoted sixth edition with a rare print red (undated, Geneva). The piece is illustrated Philosophers two small folding plates, a frontispiece, a figure below the frontispiece and a vignette title. It will be noted in this connection that most editions of the Comedy does not have figures. Letters and responses have only half-title, it is quite possible that the work is published as is, especially as the visionary pagination (each letter has its own pagination) does not identify any lack. The second sheet after the title page bearing the signature well A2. Full Calf porphyry time. Smooth back decorated. Piece modern title redone. Rubbed back and epidermis, caps frayed, cracked joint, corners bumped. Comedy philosophers began a long feud and stirred the fire between philosophers and non-philosophers, there Palissot portraiturait satirically major philosophers whose Diderort and especially Rousseau. Voltaire himself the impartial defender of the cause of the philosophers. Many authors entered the lists, but not Diderot, who had been the most attacked. You should also know that many texts published in this war were Palissot himself never ceased to stir things up for his own glory and fame. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate.
