First edition, rare. Title page in red and black. Frontispiece portrait of Jacques Charron Michel Lannes. The frontispiece Leonard Gautier is missing. There are a few copies on large paper, this book was dedicated to Louis XIII. Full sheepskin brown marbled later, ca 1800. Dos 4 nerves decorated 4 irons and rollers. Part of title morocco beige. Corners rubbed. Some scuffs on the dishes. A central brown wetness from fading in the first 30 preliminary leaves. Title partly doubled. Although qu'archaïsant by its methods and historical chronology, the origin of the kings of France still based on legends, the universal history is particularly rich in information; Charron also cites the many books he has consulted for hers. The contemporary history part is even more interesting by the stories about the New World and anecdotes about the customs of various foreign peoples. We noticed a long table neatly set.
