First edition, rare, adorned with a frontispiece Picart and 46 folding plates depicting patterns fortification. Title page in red and black. Full brown calf at the time. Back with five nerves ornate coffered and gilded finials, and a piece of red morocco. Caps absent center serving the cap head half detached. A small loss in the joint line. Corners bumped. Scuffs. Practical treatise of fortification with ways to strengthen in France, Spain, Italy and Holland paper. The book consists of a glossary of practical maxims on the measures and how to fortify and defend. Interestingly, in different sections, choice of land, etc., marked by the geometry; it seems to be indeed the most original feature of this Treaty fortification.
