First Edition. The first two volumes appeared in 1755 and the last of Father Jean-Baptiste Cadry dates back to 1757. Cadry has indeed completed this work that M. de Caylus had left in the lurch because of his death in 1754. Absent the British Library and English catalogs. Full marbled calf contemporary. Back to nerves ornate. Parts of titles in red morocco and volume numbers in black calf. Red edges. A dull corner. Fine copies. Outside the specifically theological critique (Incarnation, Trinity ...) found in the first volume of information on the many heresies. The work is to be classified in a library of Jansenism, whose vision (near the fatalistic Calvinism) human nature would have been able to accomodate the father Berruyer Jesuit.
