First edition, rare, illustrated with 60 folding plates contained 441 fossils, published anonymously (Barber IV, 785). Full calf blond marbled period. Spine ribbed elegantly decorated. Part of title in red morocco. Interior frieze. Scuffs on the dishes. 2 corners bumped. Despite minor flaws, very nice copy. One of the first all treated paleontology in which the author, through a series of philosophical letters likens the evolution of the mineral to the world of the living world. A second part is devoted to the description of fossils (fossils) and an attempt at classification, the author provides a picture of Europe and regions where we found the fossils. Most of the 60 plates from fossils found in the region of Neuchatel, Switzerland.
