First edition illustrated with a title engraved with a vignette of the chateau Gaillard and 61 inserts on steel by Turner and engraved by Higham, Brendard, Smith, Willmore ... The whole on strong vellum.
Publisher's binding in full shagreen green leather. Richly decorated false nerves back. Golden title. Double framing net and triple gold framing net on the boards. Golden slices chiseled with a semi-lily flower. Traces of friction. The first guard sheet and the engraved title partly detached. Some foxinges, in particular on the external margins of certain engravings, the very fresh text on tinted vellum.
Beautiful copy in full publisher's binding.
