large 8vo, navy blue half-roan, smooth spine tooled false nerves and gold palette, paper plates embossed decorated with plants and flowers (the time of binding); 2 sheets and 648 pages, 40 full-page engravings that illustrated title and seven boards emblazoned in chromolithography, a color map. Vignettes wood cut. first edition, first printing prints, consistent with Vicar VI-692. Formidable richly illustrated book, but was printed on different paper resulting in areas with freckles or brown paper for woodcuts inset steel engravings in number 19 are printed on better paper; heraldry boards are wonderful.
