First edition of the French translation by Charles Baudelaire. No limited issue on luxury paper printed.
Contemporary green half shagreen, black fillets annd gilt motifs to spine, marbled paper covers, marbled pastedowns and endpapers, speckled edges.
Some foxing, mainly on the title page, small tears to edges.
The first work by Poe translated by Baudelaire, with its preface entitled Sa vie, son oeuvre, destined to establish Charles Baudelaire's name permanently alongside Poe.
