First Edition. Novel published anonymously and claimed translated from English. Full Calf blond marbled time. Back tooled raised. Part of title in red morocco. Base joint split head along the first casing, and a bare blunt corner. Marie-Jeanne Riccoboni (1713-1792), was, after a mediocre actress necessity greatly appreciated novelist of his time, so much so that his peers refused to acknowledge that the author was a woman.
