First edition, rare. The second book is also the first edition, adorned with a frontispiece representing the devil handing a letter to a gentleman. Full Calf blond contemporary. Back tooled raised. Part of title in red morocco. A tear p. 127. Caps slightly threadbare. Excellent small anonymous novel, typical in its construction and writing of the first half of the eighteenth century, which narrates the encounter between a gentleman and a duelist, the largest woman he had ever seen; it will eventually tell her story of love and give an explanation for this curious duel. The second book, satirical, denounces and ridicules critical number of subjects with a biting tone for the strange.
