Pierre Carlet de Chamblain de MARIVAUX Pharsamon, ou les nouvelles folies romanesques

Pierre Carlet de Chamblain de MARIVAUX

Pharsamon, ou les nouvelles folies romanesques

Chez Pierre De Hondt, à La Haye 1738, pet. in 12 (8x13cm), (4) 384pp. , (2) 328pp., 2 Tomes reliés en 1 vol.

New edition after the original published in 1737 in Paris to Prault. Title pages in red and black. Full Sheepskin blond marbled. Back tooled raised. Part of title in red morocco. Friction. Marivaux wrote this novel of manners since 1714 but did not publish until 1737. Pharsamon is a victim of romantic folly, ie it is unable to distinguish false imaginations of the real, the real and the imaginary, like Don Quixote and the number of anti hero baroque novel, because Pharsamon is probably the last novel featuring baroque madness. QuÚrard states that this novel was not built in the first two complete editions of Marivaux.
