Autograph letter signed by Alain Robbe-Grillet to his friend Georges Raillard, art critic and friend of Joan Miro and Antoni Tapies, dated January 11 (1976), envelope attached.
Alain Robbe-Grillet informs his correspondent of his ambitious project which tapped him and of which he measures all the difficulty: "I would like to write something about (Raymond) Roussel, and I will sincerely try to do it, but I am not sure to succeed: I would have to invent some form of fiction-criticism, because I feel less and less inclined towards the analysis of a work, whatever it is. "
He is more confident and satisfied with the work he has done in the United States and the new notoriety that his works have acquired: "... my" semester "American was exciting: we finally discovered my works there and Project ("Project for a Revolution in New York" from 1970) and Sliding ("Progressive Slippage of Desire" from 1974) in place of the eternal Jealousy (1957) and Immortal (1963). , It is a pleasure."
