Victor HUGO

Lettre autographe inédite signée à l'imprimeur Jules Claye sur l'édition de ses dessins : "je tenais extrêmement à la destruction de ces bois déplorablement manqués"

21 décembre 1862, 10,5x13,4cm, une feuille.

Autograph card-letter signed by Victor Hugo to the printer Claye, written at Hauteville House and dated December 21 [1862]. 24 lines on a filled grid sheet.

"Brussels, August 21 [1869]. The verses on The Man Who Laughs , are very beautiful. Do you want to be good enough to give this to me from the author? I keep his initials for him, although I have thought I recognized. Did Mr. Châtelain receive his [illegible] copy ? Are you still receiving Le Rappel exactly ? You know my grape is ripening for you. If Mr. Lemaout and Rimmel, wanted to accompany you in October, they would be welcome . Cordial shake hand , VH "
