The details and documents (letters, etc.) are drawn from official documents printed by order of the House of Commons. First part: Jamaica. Second part: Barbados. Third part: British Guiana. Numerous pieces of information and testimonies, notably on sugar production before and after slavery... The abolition of slavery dates from 1833 in England, 1848 in France, with greater tolerance in Africa.
