First edition, rare, illustrated with a frontispiece and 16 figures of Crispin de Passe, 2 engraved by Leonard Gaultier (probably the most beautiful), the others by Jean Picart and Charles David.
Binding full brown marbled vintage brown sheepskin. Back with ornate nerves. title label of brown sheepskin. Headdresses fairly deftly restored, some parts of the bit also, and probably 2 corners. A bare corner. Missing a border. First leaflet strengthened in the margin.
Roman adapting the myth of Ovid to the baroque style.
