FERDINAND EMPEREUR

S.n., s.l. 1741, in 4 (21,5x27cm), 22pp., broché.

First Edition. Paperback, in marbled paper era. The sheets are folded high right margin. The cover also includes a fold and some gaps. Since the sixteenth century, there had always been a man to head of the house of Austria, and the estate had passed from male to male, but the Emperor Charles VI had only daughters. He wanted to leave his inheritance to his eldest daughter, Maria Theresa, and his estate settled by a solemn law, called Pragmatic Sanction. This act decided that Maria Theresa would succeed his father. To be sure it was executed, Charles VI did recognize first the members of his family, then his subjects in different provinces. Pragmatic became the fundamental law of succession to the Austrian monarchy. It establishes the right of women to succeed and returned the indivisible territory, as long as continuation of the descendants of Maria Theresa. It is on this note that the existence of the Austrian monarchy is still based today. On the death of Charles VI (1740), Marie-Thérèse was recognized heir by all countries of the Austrian monarchy. But the rulers of Europe were not to be stopped by the treaties they had signed, it was a European war, each working to dismember Austria. The book evokes a bad interpretation of the will of the Emperor Ferdinand about the succession of the house of Austria. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate.
