Hadrian RELAND De religione Mohammedica

Hadrian RELAND

De religione Mohammedica

Ex libraria Gulielmi Broedelet, Trajecti ad Rhenum 1717, pet. in 8 (10x15,5cm), (56) 272pp. (42), 2 parties en un Vol. relié.

The first edition was published in 1705, it is less desirable because it contains no illustrations. This second edition is illustrated with a frontispiece, a vignette title, a second thumbnail p. 115 and 4 folding plates: a table in the genealogy of Mohammedan, a board containing two figures Mohammedan prayer, a third Hagia Sophia, and a large folding plate (55x33cm) to Mecca. They are the work of J. Goeree and engraved by Bernarts and are of great finesse. The ogether pagination is continuous, the second part is distinguished by a false title. Vintage cardboard. Traces of paper that covered honey and now makes apparent carton. Smooth back adorned with jewels and 4 threads. Piece of paper as honey. Friction, nibbled a corner. Solid binding. Reland's work is probably the first company to show the Islamic religion without Western criticism without bashing. The book is the result of an objective and sincere study. The first part: Compendium Theologiae Mohammedicae (Latin and Arabic) is the work of an Arab author, Mukhtasar, and is translated for the first time in the West. The second part contains the Treaty Reland (with many passages in Arabic) and is as we noted above, the understanding of Islam that has been given. Not only the first text is very important but it was the first time that was given in an essay on the preeminence of Islam an Arab author on exposure of Muslim doctrine. Hadrian Reland (1676-1718) was well known in his time, famous orientalist, philologist deemed Haderwijk philosophy professor, he was also a connoisseur of antiquities and Hebrew languages ??of the discoverer of the Pacific Islands.
