Comte de Bussy, Roger de RABUTIN

Lettres de Messire Roger de Rabutin Comte de Bussy (...) avec les Réponses

Chez Z. Chatelain, Amsterdam 1752, 6 vol. in-12 (10x16,5cm), (18) 360pp. et (8) 374pp. et (10) 390pp. et (10) 376pp. et (10) 375pp. et (10) 358pp., relié.

Edition, the most complete as increased according QuÚrard Answers, illustrated frontispiece portrait of a beautiful unsigned Bussy Rabutin in armor. Title page in red and black. Full sheepskin brown time. Back with five nerves Jansenists adorned with a piece of morocco as blond and cold nets. Food boxes a single net cold. All red edges. Head cover of the first volume slightly hilly. A little head work at the first nerve of the third volume. Little work to two dishes. Two small galleries to angle in the second volume. Very fresh good copy. Interesting edition of this well-known correspondence because it contains the responses of different actors; it is almost opposite of the other most famous epistolary relationship of his time, that of Madame de Sevigne, cousin Rabutin that it helped raise awareness by making it public; this is indeed the correspondence of a libertine and gallant man at court, and was concerned about his progress, but its light and full of epigrams pen gives a very special lighting of the noble France of Louis XIV.
