New edition, increased considerably, since the first edition was only made up of 2 volumes in 1760. It is illustrated with a portrait of De La Tour and 5 frontispieces according to Eisen, Gravelot, Piquitte, as well as many pages of music . Volumes I to V are 1764 (with title pages in red and black), then volumes VI to VIII of 1765, and the last volume IX is 1767. Only volumes VII and IX relate to the title page: various works, this title being found at the top of the pages of all volumes. The set is perfectly complete Supplement issued in 1779 and bearing subtitle Forming Volume X various works. This supplement is very rarely added to the set, it contains an allegorical frontispiece and contains only unpublished pieces: The discovery of the new world (Tragedy), Iphis (Tragedy), memories and letters.
Binders in full glossy brown calfskin and marbled vintage. Ornate smooth backs. Title and volume coins in Havana morocco. Upper joint of volume I narrowly split in tail. Lack in the head of the volumes IV and V. Slight rubbing of use. Very fresh set for the first 5 volumes, some foxing on others. The marbling of leather is different for the X volume, the irons used are similar, but the title pieces are this time in red morocco. Nice copy.
