First edition, rare, adorned with a frontispiece and a vignette title. Title pages in red and black. A fourth volume appeared in 1756 for editorial purposes with the first three but adds nothing to the work, as it contains various pieces unrelated to the general title (Ode to Laziness, room to ...) Full calf marbled time. Back tooled raised florets box-4. Part of title and volume number in red morocco. Head cover of Volume I pulled in part. 4 corners bumped. A pale wetness in Volume 2 from the second sheet on the top half of the pages on the first third of the book and the last. Soon engaged in the path of skepticism and critical vision, Boureau Deslandes is'' one of the philosophers who prepared the attacks Encyclopaedists against religion and superstition, and used all his philosophy of Enlightenment. His History of Philosophy voluntarily out of this type of work.
