Second edition, which follows the first edition of 1716. Full brown calf contemporary. Back tooled raised. Part of title and volume number in red morocco. Volume 2 caps threadbare. A snag the last box of Volume 2. Friction. The Constitution of September 8, 1713, is meant to condemn Unigenitus Jansenism at the request of Louis XIV met with strong opposition in France and raised an unprecedented crisis in the Gallican church. The Parliament refused to vote for the constitution as contrary to the prerogatives of the French church. The supposed resolve division of the church bubble had the opposite effect and led the coalition of different currents which Jansenism. Nicolas Le Gros is a full trial to Unigenitus constitution by declaring illégalle analyzing point by point the irregularities of its content and how it was made, in the form of abuse.
