Rare first edition of the French translation decorated with 24 folding plates. Full mottled calf blond at the time. Back with five nerves adorned with coffered and gilded finials, as well as parts of title and volume numbers of red and blond morocco. All red edges. A little work to the back of the last volume and some friction. A small angular lack minor affecting a sheet, otherwise very nice copy of freshness. Collection of observations and essays on various topics in medicine, particularly in urology and for rabies, cholera, consumption and ophthalmology, etc; all by British doctors, but also foreigners, who sent their work to this company whose activity is illustrated by the various volumes. The interest of the translation of this work was reported in the Journal of scholars September 1740 Observations and cures which Demours is the author of ophthalmic knowledge from which were provided by Dr. Petit which he was the assistant. it is the latter that will push Demours to undertake work in ocular medicine and to address eye diseases. This orientation was a success and Demours made several important discoveries in eye surgery and acquired a rare skill in the understanding and treatment of disease.
