New edition, the first having appeared in 1658 to in-4 format. Only second volume of this edition. It is illustrated with a title vignette and 3 folding plates. This limited edition does not contain the figures 46 in-text editing in 4 1665 Full vellum flap. Smooth back with exposed seams. Second board detached. Sheets somewhat browned. A name was crossed out on the cover page, made up an idea in the paper. Good copy in period vellum. The book is one of the most important sources for knowledge of Indian and Caribbean Antilles original. Having established the history of the discovery of the West Indies, the author establishes the natural history of the islands and then describes the manners of the inhabitants, with chapters on the meeting of indigenous and Christian religion ... some interesting digressions Note the Eskimos, Indians and French and foreign facilities in Florida, Georgia ... According to sources, the allocation to Rochefort is incorrect and the real author, whose initials are the signature of the preface to the original edition would Poincy Louis; but it is quite possible that the original manuscript was Poincy and it was taken over by Rochefort (who never traveled or moved to France). Ultimately a dictionary of vocabulary carabbéen whose author is not Rochefort.
