Jules VERNE Seconde patrie

Jules VERNE

Seconde patrie

Jules Hetzel , Paris 1900-1902, 17,5x27,5cm, relié.

First large-in-8 edition illustrated with 68 drawings by George Roux as well as 2 cards.
Cartonnage editor Hetzel signed Engel said "to the golden globe" type 3, back to the lighthouse, second board type Engel "h" according to Jauzac, all golden slices. BH catalog of the in-fine editor.
Beautiful first plate despite some tiny losses of gold. Very fresh back, two thin stripes on the second board. Blue guards originally marginally thinned as usual.
Second homeland is a robinsonnade. A great admirer of the novel The Swiss Robinson written in 1812 by the German-speaking Swiss pastor Johann David Wyss, Jules Verne imagines a sequel to the adventures of the Zermatt family.
Nice copy.
